Manhattan in summer in record high temperatures, standing in line with the unwashed masses to see world famous tourist attractions, is there a better way to break in a NYC virgin?? Glenn’s younger bro was a first timer to NY but I was a first timer to all the tourist attractions. In two and a half days we went to the top of the Empire State Building, Ground Zero, Ellis Island, Times Square, Central Park, and The Lower East Side (Greenwich Village to guitar shop, Little Italy for dinner and Chinatown to buy Lychee nuts and mingle with the crazies). Saying all that now just feels insane! One of the highlights for me was the museum at Ellis Island, it was so cool to see all the history documented in such a beautiful way. We did have killer cheesecake at Carnegie Deli and one of the best steak dinners at Angelo & Maxie’s Steakhouse and a NY bagel with lox and shmear as well, don’t leave out the food…. We topped off our adventure by heading upstate to visit my dad and see my bro, it was a true family vacation.
